Your tour begins in Alicante, capital of the Costa Blanca (White Coast), also known as the City of Light. Arriving in the old quarter of the city, you’ll embark on a walking tour. Along the way, you’ll view the 18th century Neo-Baroque town hall and visit the San Nicolas de Bari Cathedral, dating back to the 17th century. Inside, you’ll discover an impressive 17th century nave and a 15th century cloister.
Re-boarding your coach, you’ll travel to Novelda and visit its most important historic building, the sanctuary of Santa María Magdalena, built by Novelda-based engineer, José Sala, who imbued his project with the Catalan Modernist style.
Onward to the Bodega Heretat de Cesilia where you’ll embark on a guided tour of the wine cellar. Inside you’ll view the old machinery once used for wine-making and its evolution to the present day. You’ll also learn about the wine-making process, from the receiving of the grapes through their processing all the way to being bottled and labeled. You’ll then be invited to taste a glass of wine before it's time to re-join your coach and travel back to the ship.
Hinweis: This tour includes approximately 2.5 hours of moderate walking/standing. There are steps and cobblestone surfaces to negotiate, as well as a steep incline at Santa María Magdalena. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of stamina and ability. Weather appropriate clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested. The minimum age to participate in the wine tasting is 18 years old. If there is an event taking place at the Cathedral, an inside visit will not be permitted. The order of the sites viewed or visited may vary.
