Land Programs & Hotels

  • Enjoy an up-close unobstructed view of Africa’s most iconic animals on several game drives into the bush. This Lodge is located along the Garden Route which is approximately 3-4 hours by motor coach from Cape Town therefore no flight is necessary.

    SANBONA GAME RESERVE: DWYKA LODGE

The 54,000 hectare Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Little Karoo is home to the only free-range white lions in South Africa. The historic predator release means that for the first time in over 200 years, lion and cheetah can once again be seen in the Klein Karoo, making Sanbona the first private game reserve in the Western Cape to play host to free-roaming big cats. Beautifully appointed tents exude an atmosphere of pioneering adventure in a vast and hidden landscape. Dwyka Lodge is surrounded by awe-inspiring rock formations which was once the home of ancient Khoisan hunters. Situated on a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine, the lodge with 9 luxury tents has a Relaxation Retreat, communal lounge with fireplace and TV, wine cellar and open air boma.

    Day 1

Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, you will be met outside the Customs and Immigration area and transferred to your hotel where you will spend the evening. Meals are on your own.

    Day 2

After breakfast and check-out formalities at your hotel, transfer overland by van or coach to your safari destination where you will check in and then enjoy lunch. Later in the afternoon you will gather in the main lodge for afternoon tea. This will be followed by an open vehicle game drive (if time permits). Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

    Day 3

You will spend the entire day at your selected establishment, where two game activities and all meals are included.

    Day 4

After one last morning game drive and breakfast, complete check-out formalities and transfer back to Cape Town and onto the harbor where you cruise ship awaits your arrival. A light lunch pack will be provided for the drive back to Cape Town.

    Please note:

-The contents and order of activities in this program are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice, due to the prevailing weather conditions and movement of dangerous wildlife on the reserve.

-Whilst this is a safari area, the animals are wild and so sightings cannot be guaranteed.

-During early morning game drives in open vehicles it can be a little cool. We recommend that guests take along a windbreaker.

-During the day, it can get extremely hot. The game drive vehicles are not covered – and guests are therefore exposed to the elements. Guests are therefore advised not to forget their sunhats, sun block, sunglasses, as well as their cameras and binoculars.

-The roads in the game reserve are gravel. There are also inclines and certain parts of the game-drive can be bumpy. Not recommended for guests with back & neck problems or pregnant ladies.

-This program is suitable for guests with walking disabilities, providing that a travel companion or spouse accompanies them. Please also note that confirmation would be strictly subject to availability of handicapped rooms at the time of booking.

-No children under 6 years of age are allowed on safari.

-This program is not fully guided. Local representatives will assist you with your transfers however, the program at the lodge and hotel is run solely and at the discretion by the lodge/hotel staff.

Land Program Details Step by Step

•The order of sites visited may vary to avoid congestion. Program times are approximate, given here for general reference purposes and subject to change.

•Itineraries with the up-to-date details will be issued when you are emailed your final cruise documents 21 days prior to sailing. You will then receive a final itinerary from our ground operator with a Welcome Letter upon arrival or at your hotel. •The hotels used for your land program will be the hotels listed in this document unless you have been advised otherwise in advance of the land program start date.

    Meet and Greet and transfers

•Final cruise documents will be emailed 21 days prior to sailing. The local ground agent’s telephone number will be on page 1, if you can’t locate the meet-and-greet representative upon arrival. Be aware that the representative may be assisting others and may not be in sight when you first exit Customs and the luggage claim area.

•Look for someone holding a sign with the cruise line logo and possibly your name. If in doubt, ask the airport staff to direct you to the meeting area for transfers or to page our representative.

•Meet and Greet and transfers are arranged for guests arriving on Day 1 of a land program or for extra nights booked through the cruise line and are arranged based on the flight details received by guests at least 14 days before sailing. Guests arriving independently before the program start date will not have a transfer included.

•If we have not received your flight details or your flights have changed, and the Destination Services Land Team has not been notified, then a transfer cannot be provided, and guests will be responsible for getting to the land program hotel at their own expense. Expected Weather:

South Africa’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Midwinter is June and midsummer is December and January. The climate varies from region to region but is generally mild throughout the year. Expect it to be hot during the day and much cooler in the evenings.

    What to Bring:

Light cotton tops and cotton trousers and shorts in summer. Safari trousers and warm fleece tops for evenings and cooler days. Also, bring swimwear, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, camera, film and batteries, personal toiletries.

There are no flights so there are no restrictions for luggage although porterage is included for up to 2 bags per person.

    Documents and Visa Requirements:

South African Immigrations requires that you have at least two consecutive double-blank pages in your passport, or entry to the country may be denied. There may also be a need to climb steps or stairs on occasion. Guests who utilize a wheelchair and those with mobility concerns are advised to check with the cruise line in advance to see if any portion of the tour program may not be considered suitable for their individual situation. Weather appropriate clothing; hats; sunglasses; and flat, comfortable walking shoes are generally recommended.

Please note: All land programs are capacity controlled and subject to availability. Programs falling under the minimum number of required participants are subject to cancellation. SABI SABI LITTLE BUSH CAMP

Little Bush Camp lies hidden in the shade of indigenous riverine trees, on a bend of the Msulthlu River. It is the smallest and most secluded of Sabi Sabi's lodges and styled to reflect the contemporary elegance that epitomizes Bush Lodge. Children under 13 years of age are not catered to at this camp.

The lodge offers six suites, all with private decks overlooking the riverbed and surrounding natural bush. The lodge itself is intimate, centered on an inviting lounge and leading to an elegant outdoor dining area. The pool area is across the riverbed and an outdoor boma is the perfect setting for indulging in the finest safari cuisine.

Luxurious en suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers, while the heated spa bath on each secluded deck offers a delightfully decadent vantage point from which to relax and watch the bushveld and abundant wildlife.

  • This nonstop adventure presents the unrivalled experience of touring thundering Victoria Falls and venturing into Botswana’s first national park for a game drive to view African’s most iconic wildlife.

PLEASE NOTE – This PRE-Cruise Program begins in Johannesburg and therefore guests need to fly into Johannesburg, South Africa. The following program details are for reference purposes only and subject to change based on flights that can be confirmed at or around 60 days prior to sailing.

Special Note: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour.

    DAY 1

Upon arrival at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, you will be met and assisted through passport control and baggage claim. You will then be escorted your hotel where you will spend the remainder of the day at leisure. Your hotel is located within walking distance of the terminal.

Check in time at your hotel is at 2:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available sooner, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have an early arriving flight you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available upon arrival.

NOTE - Guests on Splendor's January 5 sailing will have a New Year's Eve dinner at the hotel on this evening.

    DAY 2

After breakfast and check out, meet your local escort and walk to the terminal to check in for a flight to Kasane, Botswana.

As guests may only bring one piece of checked luggage per person, excess luggage (1 piece per person) will be shipped via courier to Cape Town where you will be re-united with it on Day 5. Make sure to pack accordingly and bring any medications and cruise documents with you.

Upon arriving in Kasane, proceed through Customs and Immigration and then another local representative will assist with your transfer to Chobe Chilwero. Your lodge is located on the Chobe River, not far from the entrance to Chobe National Park.

If time allows, enjoy lunch and then some free time to get acquainted with your surroundings.

A bit later in the day, gather in the main lodge for tea and snacks followed by a game drive in Chobe National Park. Safaris are conducted in 4x4 open side vehicles and led by qualified professional guides who will bring you close to hippos, buffalos, puku and other animals that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. Naturally, elephants, lion and leopard are also found in the area.

Return to your lodge thereafter for dinner and overnight.

    DAY 3

After an early-morning wake-up call and coffee and tea in the lobby, you will embark on a morning game drive in 4x4 open-air safari vehicles.

Along with elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, Chobe is also home to two antelope that aren’t encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the puku and the Chobe bushbuck. Declared a national park in 1967, Chobe was the first one established in Botswana and now covers more than 4,500 square miles of dry savannah, floodplains, and teak woodlands that are ideal animal habitats.

Returning from your morning safari, a full breakfast will be served after which you will have free time to do as you wish at the lodge.

Following lunch, you will embark on a cruise down the Chobe River – this is the ideal time to keep a look out for animals coming to the river for water.

Later dinner will be served at the lodge.

    DAY 4

After enjoying one last optional game drive and breakfast, check-out from the lodge and transfer cross the border between Botswana and Zimbabwe by road en route to Victoria falls. (Visas will need to purchased here for Zimbabwe), The drive is approximately 1- 1.5 hours depending on border time.

On arrival at the Victoria Falls hotel, check in and enjoy lunch.

Later in the afternoon, transfer to the Zambezi River and embark on a sunset cruise (shared departure). Depending on the size of the group the boat may either be a covered single level sightseeing boat or a larger boat with multiple levels. Enjoy a beverage from this vantage point whilst watching the sunset and possibly sighting hippos, crocodiles, various birdlife and maybe even an elephant or two along the banks of the river.

Your boat cruise is followed up with dinner back at the hotel.

    DAY 5

After breakfast and check out, transfer to the Victoria Falls Rainforest where you will have a guided walk.

Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is the world’s largest curtain of falling water, based on the falls’ one-mile width and height of 360 feet. It’s an amazing spectacle to watch as the Zambezi River roars over the edge of a basalt gorge, forming what locals call Mosi-Oa-Tunya or “the smoke that thunders”. In November 1885, after seeing the falls for the first time, Scottish explorer and Doctor David Livingstone re-named them after Queen Victoria.

A path along the edge of the rainforest provides visitors with an unparalleled series of views of the falls but be prepared to get wet from the tremendous spray!

NOTE: the cobblestone walkways within the rainforest can be slippery if wet and some spots are at a gradient. Proper walking shoes that have a good grip should be worn, and guests should wear appropriate clothing to get wet. Due to the amount of walking and terrain, this program is not suited for guests who have walking difficulty or who utilize a wheelchair or scooter. Walking distance will be 2-4km (1.24 – 2.48 miles).

Your program here concludes with a transfer to the Victoria Falls Airport where you will take a flight to Cape Town.

In Cape Town you will be met and transferred to your hotel which is located at the Victoria And Alfred Waterfront where you will find a wide array of shopping and dining options. Lunch and dinner are on your own today.

Guests will be reunited with any excess luggage that was stored in Johannesburg and shipped to Cape Town.

NOTE: Activities and meals on this day are subject to your flight time

    DAY 6

After breakfast and check-out is completed, you will be transferred to the Cape Town Harbour via a city orientation tour.

    PLEASE NOTE

*This is a malaria risk area. Make sure that the necessary medication has been taken. Guests should seek their physicians’ advice regarding malaria precautions and other recommended immunizations. You must begin taking malaria precautions prior to your departure date.

*The contents and order of the activities in this program are subject to change by the lodge management without prior notice, due to the prevailing weather conditions and movement of dangerous wildlife in the Chobe National Park.

*The roads in the game reserve are gravel. There are also inclines, and certain parts of the game drive can be bumpy. This program is not recommended for guests with back problems.

*Bring warm clothing, as the evenings and early mornings are chilly.

*This program is not fully guided. Local representatives will assist you with your transfers and you will have a guide at Victoria Falls, however, the game drive and Chobe River cruise at the lodge and is run solely and at the discretion by the lodge/hotel staff.

*The water levels at Victoria Falls are season dependent. ‘Low Water’ runs between August and January and is at its lowest between November and early December. This is the time when there is very little spray and visitors are able to fully appreciate the geological formation of Victoria Falls and the full length and breadth of them.

    Expected Weather:

South Africa’s seasons are the reverse of those in the northern hemisphere. Midwinter is in June and midsummer at hottest temperatures in December and January. The climate varies from region to region but is generally mild throughout the year. The average daily temperature is 30°C and nighttime temperatures can drop to approximately 14°C.

The arrival of the rains trigger a dispersal of game from the Chobe River area but the warm, rainy December to March summer months are the best time to visit Chobe for bird watching, the impala birthing season (great for predators!) and to see the Savute zebra migration.

In Zimbabwe and Botswana, during summer (October – April), days are hot and generally sunny in the morning with possible afternoon thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures can rise to 30ºC (86 ºF) and night temperatures drop to around 14ºC (57.2 ºF) - 16ºC (60.8 ºF). The temperatures given are those for the main centers but it is considerably warmer all year round in the low-lying areas such as Kariba, Victoria Falls, and the Zambezi Valley. The rainy season runs from November to March, although the Eastern Highlands are damp for most of the year.

    What to Bring:

Light cotton tops and cotton trousers and shorts in summer. Safari trousers and warm fleece tops for evenings and cooler days. Swimwear, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, camera, film and chargers, personal toiletries and anti-malaria prophylaxis.

    Currency:

The monetary unit of South Africa is the Rand. All major credit cards are accepted at most establishments, although Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted cards.

In Zimbabwe, the unit of currency is the US Dollar

Credit card payments in Zimbabwe are subject to change on a daily basis. Currently, as only Visa cards are widely accepted here so we recommend that you travel with a small amount of US Dollars or SA Rand in cash, in small denominations, to pay for incidental expenses.

    Electricity:

South Africa’s electrical system is 220/230 volts A/C 50 cycles. Most hotels have hair dryers and plug adaptors in the bedrooms however we recommend bringing your own travel adaptor if you are bringing electric devices. Be aware that overnight charging may not be possible where generator use restricts the availability of electricity.

Outlets in Zimbabwe require a three-pronged adapter plug with 3 round prongs

    DAY 2

*For operational reasons beyond our control, the originally advertised Salt and Wine tasting at Waterford Wine Estate has been replaced with the below itinerary.

Following breakfast, you will meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby and then depart for a full-day tour of the Cape Winelands featuring Stellenbosch, the Town of Oaks and the second-oldest town in South Africa.

Stellenbosch is a university town famous for its carefully preserved architectural heritage, which includes examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian styles, especially on Dorp Street, which is lined with houses, cottages and shops. Rows of oaks and open spaces transform the streets into soft, shady tunnels. The oaks have actually been proclaimed national monuments.

Starting in the Old Town center with your specialized “foodie” guide, your walking tour will focus on fresh, local, sustainably produced, and seasonal produce. In addition to its international wine reputation, Stellenbosch is also home to curated, public art exhibitions. During your leisurely walk you will savor the handiwork of both enthusiastic food artisans and celebrated artists in Stellenbosch. Throughout, your guide will entertain you with stories about the history and culture of the area.

Your tour includes sampling home-grown teas paired with typical Cape sweet treats, traditional beef snacks from a local butchery, local produced wines with appetizing delights and the walk will conclude at one of the oldest hotels in Stellenbosch for a delicious heritage platter.

After lunch, re-board your coach and head to Blaauwklippen Wine Estate. Founded in 1682, Blaauwklippen is one of the oldest wine farms in Stellenbosch. Upon arrival you will be welcomed and will partake in a delectable wine and chocolate pairing followed by the unique opportunity to create a wine blend.

Start off by tasting three different wines lead by an experienced wine ambassador who will guide the group through the process showing how and why certain varieties harmonize better than others. You will then be challenged to create your own blend as a team.

After some time to explore the estate on your own it will be time to return to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure with dinner on your own. If you wish, the hotel’s concierge can assist you in making arrangements for an unforgettable dinner off site or you may choose to dine in-house.

    DAY 3

Following a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby and depart for a full-day tour to the Cape Winelands featuring Franschhoek.

The lush Franschhoek Valley and the Huguenot village of Franschhoek (“French Corner”) was originally known as Olifants Hoek (“Elephant’s Corner”) after elephants took to calving in the sheltered valley with its plentiful supply of food and water.

En-route, you will stop at Boschendal Wine Estate for a guided walking tour offering rare personal insight into the history of the farm, regenerative farming practices and sustainable gardening while experiencing and enjoying the beauty of the farm and its gardens. You will also be harvesting seasonal herbs from the herb garden. Comfortable shoes and hats are recommended as this is a 1.5-hour walking tour.

Following your farm tour, you will enjoy a wine tasting and then lunch at The Werf Restaurant.

You will then travel to the town of Franschhoek, where you have the option to visit to the Huguenot Monument, situated at the foot of the Franschhoek Pass, which commemorates the arrival of the Huguenots in South Africa. Alternatively, you may explore this quaint town on your own.

The tour ends with a nougat and sparkling wine tasting at Haute Cabriere or a similar venue.

Back at your hotel you will have some time to freshen up before a final wine pairing three-course group dinner.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at your hotel and check-out formalities, embark on a half day tour of the city before transferring to the port for embarkation.

Begin with a visit to Table Mountain, the city’s most celebrated landmark!

Travel up Kloof Nek, the saddle between Table Mountain and Lions Head, to the lower cableway station. Ascend from the Valley Station (363 m) to the Mountain Station (1 060 m) in a Swiss engineered Rotair cable car. The journey from the base to the summit takes just under 4 minutes and one can enjoy spectacular views, as the floor of the car rotates 360 degrees during the ascent and descent.

Table Mountain gets her name from the flat-topped central massif of the mountain, which, viewed from the city, is surrounded by Devil’s Peak on the left, Lion’s Head on the right and Signal Hill in the foreground. They form a sort of amphitheater that encloses the city center and some of the older suburbs. Other earlier suburbs are on either side of the chain of mountains, which run like a spine through the Cape Peninsula, from Table Mountain to Cape Point – the cape from which Cape Town gets its name.

From the summit, the natural protected area stretching from Signal Hill to Cape Point has been managed under the custodianship of the National Parks Board. This area has one of the highest concentrations of endemic plant and animal species in any area of its size, containing a staggering 2 285 plant species – more than the entire U.K.

Upon descent, re-board your vehicle and transfer to the port via a brief city orientation tour of Cape Town passing through Adderley Street and along the Foreshore.

Note: the cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain is weather dependent. If not possible due to high winds a stop will be made at a viewing area near the cable car base for photos.

  • Experience the natural and architectural wonders of Chile by driving through the majestic Andes, exploring cities such as colonial Valparaiso and the capital of Santiago, and by tasting some of the country’s premier wines.

    Day 1

Following disembarkation in San Antonio, Chile, you will meet your guide and then proceed for a tour of colonial Valparaiso, which UNESCO deemed a World Heritage site for being an excellent representation of late 19th-century urban development. As you drive through the city’s steep winding streets, you will pass the Parliament building, Fisherman’s Wharf, Plaza Sotomayor and the Naval Academy. You will also ride a cable car to a lookout that presents sweeping views over the city and bay.

After lunch at a local restaurant, proceed towards Chile’s capital city, Santiago, where you will be dropped off at your hotel for check in. The afternoon is at your leisure and in the evening join your group for dinner at the hotel.

    Day 2

After breakfast, you will board a coach and begin a tour that will include the most important highlights of historical and modern Santiago, including the presidential palace, San Francisco Church and the Plaza de Armas with a visit to the Cathedral. You will continue through the newer residential areas of the city and stop at the top of San Cristobal Hill for a breathtaking view of Santiago.

You will then proceed to the Santa Rita Vineyard, located just 45 minutes away from Santiago. Placed in the foothill zone of Alto Jahuel, in Buin, the vineyard is surrounded by an extraordinary natural environment. The tour will reveal the characteristic wines produced here.

Afterwards, you will pause for lunch at Restaurant Doña Paula. This national monument honors Paula Jaraquemada, who owned the main house of the Santa Rita Estate more than 200 years ago.

The estate was the setting for significant historical occurrences associated to Chile’s independence. General Bernardo O’Higgins and 120 soldiers took refuge there after a battle against the forces of the Spanish crown. The winery’s Santa Rita 120 line of products was named to honor those 120 patriots.

After lunch, you will return to your hotel in Santiago. The evening will be at your leisure with dinner on your own.

    Day 3

After breakfast, you will enjoy a scenic drive towards the Andes mountain range for a tour of Portillo, which is considered one of the best ski resorts of the world. Along the way, you will pass through the fertile Aconcagua Province and stop briefly at the monument to the Battle of Chacabuco, which signifies the independence of Chile.

As you begin your journey into the Andes, weather permitting, you may be able to see Mount Aconcagua in the distance. As you climb higher, you will surely be impressed as the mountainous scenery unfolds and the guide explains the natural history of the Andes.

Portillo is located at high above sea level next to the Laguna del Inca with its emerald green waters. The World Ski Championship was held here in 1966 – the only one held in South America until 1990. You will stop at the lake for photos and to enjoy lunch at a restaurant before returning to Santiago.

Back at the hotel, the evening will be at your leisure with dinner is on your own.

    Day 4

  • Explore the Chilean wilds on bold excursions into the mountainous landscape around the exclusive Las Majadas Hotel, where you will luxuriate between adventures and partake in wine tastings, spa services, cooking classes and more if you wish. The activities that you can select will place you in direct contact with nature, the unique flavors of the Maipo Valley and the sounds and colors of the Andes Mountain range.

    Day 1

After disembarking the ship in Santiago, Chile, you will meet your guide and transfer directly to Maipo Valley, where you will take part in an exclusive RSSC group tour to Haras de Pirque. Drive time is approximately 2-2.5 hours. This vineyard is in one of the finest wine-producing areas of the Maipo Valley at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The wines produced here typically feature a high concentration of tannins, great structure and intense color. The native vegetation of myrtles and boldos sometimes impart the wines with balsamic characteristics.

The winery itself has been uniquely designed in a horseshoe shape paying homage to the thoroughbred farm that is located a short distance away. The winery is located on a hillside and was designed to integrate gravity flow technology into all phases of wine production limiting the use of mechanical pumps. As a result, the grapes are handled as gently as possible extracting only the softest tannins and preserving balance and precision.

Today, all the wines and vineyards of Haras de Pirque are organic and certified by the CERES institute which means that only environmentally friendly products are used in the production process.

You will be shown the wine-making process and will taste several of the most distinctive wines. Lunch at the winery follows.

Then, proceed to your hotel, Las Majadas, a truly unique hotel, inspired by nature and located in the Pirque region.

The estate that Las Majadas occupies has been part of Pirque’s history since the 16th century. One of its owners constructed the Pirque Canal that carries water from the Maipo River through the valley and another built the French chateau-like palace at Las Majadas in the early 20th century. A centenary park with more than a thousand trees, including sequoias, palms and Lebanese cedars surrounds the property.

The modern Las Majadas Hotel, where you will stay for four evenings, opened in 2016. Its minimalist interior offers quite the contrast to the ornate palace also located on the grounds, which is used for special events and certain hotel activities. The Sequoia Restaurant within the hotel provides an extraordinary gastronomic experience in an intimate setting. The Kura Spa offers a multitude of treatments and massages to soothe body and soul.

After check-in, the remainder of the day will be yours to enjoy as you please.

Based on your arrival time, you may choose 1 half-day excursion for the afternoon, but also will be able to choose your activities for the next days, which can be 2 half-day excursions or 1 full day excursion.

Available options can be viewed on the website: https://www.lasmajadas.cl/en/programas/full-board-program/

Take note of the activity level as some require walking great distances at high altitudes.

The knowledgeable Excursion Team at the hotel will be able to give you a complete list of all the experiences and excursions available while you are there. Pre-booking is not required.

Excursions. Numerous spectacularly scenic hikes and treks are available through valleys, into the mountains and foothills, to ancient glaciers and to the Maipo River. Horseback riding, vineyard visits, cooking, grilling and cocktail making classes are also available on select days of the week. Choose the ones that sound most interesting to you.

Note: Please take in consideration that some excursions are weather dependent.

Wine talks (fee). Taste three wines from Maipo Valley vineyards in the Las Majadas wine cellar. Executive Director of Vinifera and Sommelier Gonzalo Rojas Aguilera will share his knowledge of the wines to enhance the experience.

    Meditation classes. Free daily.

Tavern on site, open Fridays and Saturdays or if the property is at full occupancy. Sip a cocktail or glass of wine from a Maipo Valley vineyard, the perfect complement to live music in this 100-year-old bar. When the tavern is not open, there is another bar located in the main hotel.

Sequoia Restaurant. Enjoy an unmatched gastronomic experience with dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, complemented by local wines.

Piano Bar. Sip a signature cocktail or a glass of local wine as the pianist plays favorite songs.

Kura Spa (fee). Relax in a calming environment with a massage, aromatherapy, hot stone treatments and other therapies.

    Note:

There will not be a guide staying with the group at the hotel; however, during your stay you will be assigned a Regent representative whose contact details will be provided to you with his/her name and number should you require anything that the lodge staff cannot assist with.

  • Spend three wonderfully relaxing days and nights doing whatever you please at the Colchagua Valley’s most extraordinary hotel and winery, where the options include a cooking class, wine tastings, horseback riding and enjoying the boundless amenities. This is followed by one last evening to unwind in Chile’s capital city, Santiago.

Note: Due to the number of steps required to access Viña Vik hotel and the bungalow rooms, this program is not available for guests who require the use of a wheelchair.

    DAY 1

Disembark the ship in San Antonio, Chile and meet your driver and escort. Transfer through the countryside to Viña Vik, whose name in the local indigenous language means “valley of small lagoons”. The land was originally the home of Mapuche warrior tribes and later marked the southern boundary of the Inca Empire. Drive time is approximately 2.5-3-hour drive depending on traffic.

Upon reaching Millahue (in the Cachapoal Valley), you will arrive at Viña Vik, an architecturally extraordinary hotel and winery. A visionary blend of wine, architecture, landscape and luxury, this property has always placed innovation and science at the center of everything it does.

Much of the hotel is built into the natural landscape and capped with an incredible undulating titanium roof that can be seen from miles around. From the winery below and when the sun is shining, the roof appears to be made of gold. This stunning feature was built this way to pay homage to the valley which was nicknamed “Lugar de Oro or Golden Place” by the native Mapuche people. Norwegian entrepreneur Alexander Vik, with his keen eye for designing stunning buildings, has truly created a property that is like no other.

The hotel features twenty-two individually decorated and distinctive suites and seven bungalows with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the breath-taking views. Decorated according to individual themes, the suites and bungalows feature exclusive art and design, from elegant pieces of furniture to inspired murals and decorations, as well as exquisite sculptures and paintings. Your luxurious Pura Vik Bungalow includes 360-degree views, a terrace and private hot tub.

Upon arrival, your visit will start with a tour and tasting of the renowned wines of Vik Winery. As you look around the entire property you will see 4,400 hectares of astonishing Chilean wilderness in which only approximately 327 hectares of vines have been planted. This majestic and natural landscape is composed of 12 valleys, each one with its own micro-climate, distinct exposures, all within a wind-tunnel cooled by Pacific coastal breezes and winds from high up in the Andes mountains that provide VIK with enormous complexity and exceptional variety.

After your tour of the winery, you will proceed to the hotel for check in and lunch at Mila Mila Restaurant.

Following a short tour to become acquainted with the amenities of the hotel and winery, you will spend the remainder of the day participating in whichever activity you choose.

Throughout your stay, take time to unwind at the cantilevered slate pool that extends out over the valleys and the lake below. (Insider tip: The sunsets are quite spectacular from the pool deck!). Enjoy delicious meals that are served in a variety of settings, from the indoor dining room to the expansive outdoor terraces that look out onto the valley, lake and vineyard or even in their newly opened and rustic “garden to table” BBQ restaurant.

At the spa, you may wish to pamper yourself and indulge in a massage, facial or body scrub using products made from grapes grown on the property (additional cost) and in the evening perhaps enjoy stargazing beneath incredibly clear night skies.

Optional activities that are included during your stay are:

•Orchard tour with seeds and flower tasting

•Wine tasting paired with creamy chocolates

    •Mixology class

    •Bicycling, hiking and bird watching

•Enjoying the hotel sauna, swimming pool and game room

Additional activities may be available for purchase. Your Viña Vik Concierge will be able to assist in setting up your schedule. Note: There may be other hotel guests participating in the same experiences.

Later in the day, dinner will be provided at Mila Mila Restaurant.

Another insider tip: Be sure to check out the “art wall” in the restaurant – see if you can spot the RSSC logo and don’t be afraid to add your own personal touch!

Note: There are approximately 25-30 steps up to enter the hotel from the vehicle drop off area. Pura Vik Bungalows at Viña Vik are separate from the main building and along with the 25-30 steps to go down once you exit the main building, there is also a downward sloping brick paved driveway and then approximately 8-10 steps down to reach each bungalow.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, the RSSC group will set out on a horseback ride along trails with immediate views of the vineyard and mountains. Note how the winery has been designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape and can barely be seen over the vines depending on your vantage point. After returning, refresh and then proceed to a cooking class activity. This experience includes a visit to the organic vegetable garden, where guests will be able to hand pick the various ingredients that will later be used in the cooking class. The experience ends with a tasting of the dishes paired with Vik’s iconic wines.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Choose to relax or participate in one of the optional activities. Please consult with the hotel concierge for a list of your included optional activities operating on this day.

Dinner is included at Mila Mila Restaurant.

Note: Horseback ride is not mandatory but is included for our group. The ride is slow and easy around the vineyard with several stops along the way for photos should you wish, therefore previous experience is not necessary.

Please check with Reception for meeting location and time.

    DAY 3

After breakfast, the day can be spent doing whatever you wish. Please consult with the hotel concierge for a list of your included optional activities operating on this day. We recommend enjoying lunch at the restaurant adjacent to the winery for lunch.

This evening, enjoy a BBQ Countryside group dinner to crown your visit at Viña VIK Hotel.

    DAY 4

After breakfast, morning will be at leisure until check out time (12:00 pm latest). Then, proceed to Mila Mila Restaurant for lunch, bid farewell to your Vik hosts and drive towards Santiago. Check in upon your arrival at your hotel (drive time is approximately 2.5-3 hours depending on traffic). The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.

This evening, dinner is on your own. The hotel is located within walking proximity to a variety of restaurants and bars. Your hotel concierge will be happy to assist with any dinner recommendations and reservations.

Transfer note: For guests who would prefer a quicker transfer, the hotel has a helicopter pad and transfers may be arranged independently from the hotel to Santiago.

    DAY 5

After breakfast at the hotel, check out (latest at 12 noon). Transfers to the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago will be arranged according to flight details received. Should you have a late flight, luggage storage will be available at the hotel until your transfer.

On this overland adventure you will have the opportunity to view the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian parks.

Special Notes: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour. There is extensive walking at Iguazu, the pathways can be uneven in places, and you are very likely to get wet from the spray of the falls.

    DAY 1 – January 24, 2025

Disembark in Montevideo, meet your escort and transfer to the domestic airport for a flight to Iguazu via Buenos Aires.

After flying into the Iguazu Airport in Argentina, transfer by road to Brazil and your hotel for the next two nights, Belmond’s Hotel Das Cataratas, the only hotel within Brazil's 715-square-mile Iguazu National Park.

    (border crossing).

After checking in, enjoy a cocktail with lovely views of the falls. Dinner at the hotel will follow.

    DAY 2 – January 25, 2025

After breakfast, transfer to the Iguazu National Park on the Argentinian side (border crossing). The name Iguazu means Great Waters in Guarani. This natural wonder is taller than Niagara Falls, twice as wide and combines 275 falls in a massive, magnificent cascade stretching for nearly 1.7 miles. Situated on the border between Argentina and Brazil, its waters pass over lush, sub-tropical greenery.

Walking through the low circuit catwalks, discover part of the falls from a unique view, getting close enough to feel the spray and energy created by this great mass of falling water.

Enjoy a buffet lunch inside the National Park and after lunch, take a ride on the Iguazu Eco-Train to visit one of the wonders of the world, the impressive Garganta Del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). This is where the Iguazu River crashes down almost 80 meters forming rainbows and is a stunning sight to see.

Return to your hotel in Brazil for dinner.

    DAY 3 – January 26, 2025

After breakfast at your hotel, tour the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls National Park with your guide.

Enjoy lunch or a boxed lunch depending on flight time and transfer to the airport (border crossing) for a flight to Buenos Aires where you will reboard the ship.

NOTE: When crossing the border between Argentina and Brazil and vice versa, changing vehicles will be required due to border-crossing regulations. There may be a wait at the border depending on how many others are crossing at the same time. Passports are required at the border.
