Beschreibung

Browse the superlative collection of art within the Glyptotek, a gallery that brewer Carl Jacobsen – best known for his Danish beer brand Carlsberg – established in 1897. Even the drive there will be visually exciting as you will pass Copenhagen’s glorious city hall and the 17th-century Nyhavn waterfront district before stopping for photos at Amalienborg Palace, the royal family’s official residence. More extraordinary sights await you inside the Glyptotek as its four buildings hold a staggering 10.000 works of art and archaeological objects. French 19th century and Impressionist art are particularly well represented by the likes of Monet, Degas and Cezanne. As you might expect, the permanent exhibit of Danish Art of the Golden Age is superior. If you are interested in works from antiquity, you will find galleries dedicated solely to Egyptian, Greek and Roman sculptures. The Glyptotek also holds the largest collection of sculptures by Rodin outside of France.
